I am new to TN hunting and need to get my license for this fall and winter. I noticed that there is a Hunters Education Class that is offered to hunters.
My question is this class mandatory to get a hunters license?

Everyone that was born after January 1st, 1969 is required to pass a certified Hunter Education course before legally hunting in Tennessee.
There are two exceptions to this rule:
1. You are a landowner (or fall under the landowner exemption) hunting on your own land. Note: It must be your own land, it can not be someone else's property.
2. You purchase a one-time Apprentice supplemental license which exempts you from the Hunter Education requirement for one year. While hunting with the Apprentice license you must be accompanied by an adult 21-years of age or older that has successfully passed a Hunter education class. All other licenses are still required.
Hope this answers your questions.
