i put up a box stand in 2006 and it has been a heck of of a producer deer coyote armadillo crows you name it
got food plots, water running on two sides plus we video there quite abit
having this stand was the only way my neices would go with me
so this weekend i go up there and when i opened the door a pair of buzzards about knocked me off the ladder coming out of there
now after the mess they made i'm not going back in there
but i sure wasn't gonna let them have it either
i tried firing off several shot to run them off and they just kept circling in fact more of them showed up
any suggestions on how to run them off?
i know they are protected and i'm gonna play by the rule but you talk about tempting
any help would be appreciated

my brother is a heat and air guy and he said he would let me borrow a bottle of acetylene and told me to fill up a balloon with it and tie a string on it that would burn and light the string and run
he said he did it for the 4th of july last year and his ears are still ringing

coyotes are no 1 priority we are starting to see a few quail and we haven't seen any in years
i have killed more of them trying to call turkeys up than any other way but as far as the jerky goes the image of a mule eating briars comes to mind

Simply put something over the opening that can easily be removed. They have to have a hole to be able to get in. Some scrap wood with some cheap hinges and hooks from a hardware store should do the trick.

Buzzards fall under the federal migratory bird laws, so I don't know that I would be shooting them. If they become an ongoing problem I did see somewhere that someone was able to legally get a dead one and hung it nearby. Apparently that solved the problem.

I've heard that firecrackers will scare 'em off. Throw a couple packs of black cats in there amongst 'em and see what happens. No law against that. Even if it doesn't work, It'll be fun.
