I will say however that no matter what your job or title, if you continue to make those writing your checks unhappy, there will be serious problems sooner or later.
I agree with that, its also important to remember, that as it stands now, that the ones "writing the checks" are doing so with the hunters and fishers of tennessee's money...

Very interesting indeed. I personally dont think politics should have a hand in any type game management. I will say however that no matter what your job or title, if you continue to make those writing your checks unhappy, there will be serious problems sooner or later. I truly hope this gets taken care of and maybe TWRA will come out of it with a better attitude and a drive to do a better job, especially in communicating with those buying the licenses!
Excellent post!! It seems communication from TWRA/TWRC may be a key source for what is happening right now, according to some new info. Communication with hunters and the non hunting public is key to the hunting and wildlife management future. I don't know what issues some of them have in the powers that be,.. but i can think of a issue that happened a while back that could have/ should have been handled differently by the TWRA/TWRC. It would have been a ideal oppurtunity to express concern over the deer management in areas of TN to hunters and to the non hunting public,.. and a key time to educate those about how hunting is a important part of wildlife management and control. BUT,.. it didn't happen!! A missed oppurtunity ,.. IMO!!

"Communication is the problem. I get more constituent calls about TWRA than anything else other than TennCare." "When I was elected in Carter County one of the primary complaints I heard was that the (wildlife) commissioner in our area wouldn't return calls... so I called our commissioner and I couldn't get a return call," Tennessee House Speaker Kent Williams (R - Dist. 4) How could anyone think this is a good thing? Politicians will ruin deer hunting in Tennessee , and GOD only knows what the suits will do to fishing here .
