A couple days age TnRdgRnr started a thread by asking, "why scout in the off-season". There was lots of good discussion and it got me really thinking about all the reasons why I do it. I decided to put together my top 10 reasons. Thanks TnRdgRnr for gettin' the ol' grey matter working. Here is a link to it http://www.pursuithunting.com/2010/03/top-10-reasons-to-scout-in-off-season.html

I try to scout year round on both the properties that I hunt. It sure helps out when a cousin of mine wants me to put him in a place where he might be able to fill a tag...

Someone commented on the site that it is a good time to scout other hunters if you hunt in an area where there is a lot of hunting pressure. Figuring out from flagging tape, trimmed trees, brite eyes, treestand scars, etc., where other hunters will be next year could help you get into a position to get on a deer lookin' to get gone. Thought that was a good point.
