IMO, I would think anywhere is the same as far as maturity goes.

3 1/2 is maturing
4 1/2 and older is Mature!

That's like asking is your sister mature at 16 in Florida vs 16 in TN.

A buck is mature at 4.5 no matter where he lives. A buck is immmature less than 4.5 no matter where he lives.

Good answer!

Any buck 4 1/2+ is considered mature.

Bucks 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 are considered "middle-aged."

I guess I could of phrased it a little better... I hear hunters use the wording that they only kill mature bucks...
In TX that might mean.. 5.5 to 6.5 yrs old.. TN that might mean on avg 3.5 to 4.5 yrs old...

P.S. FL it really doesn't matter.... We can shot one buck per day....

Biologically, a buck is considered mature at 4 1/2, no matter what state you are talking about.

But as you mentioned, hunters may use different definitions.

The biggest problem, biologically, when talking about mature bucks is the lack of information concerning these age bucks. Most states don't collect detailed data on mature bucks. If they break down ages at all, most states just break harvested buck ages down to the three categories of 1 1/2, 2 1/2, and 3 1/2+.
