Does anybody else use the plane white salt (50lb. bag) from the co-op for salt licks? I have one out and put 1 or 2 bags out a year and the deer tear them up. It is usually bout $5 a bag. In my opinion it is as good as the trophy rock and other stuff out there.

All I can tell you is that when I raised cattle and had salt blocks out in the spring and summer months I would always see deer licking them....Now is it good for them ??? Question for BSK?
IMO I think all living creatures require some salt...With that being said, I don't see a problem...

I have tried many kinds of salt. Plain white salt in the 50 lb bad works just fine!

if i put out any, it's the red mineral block kind....they have it at co-op and tractor supply.

Salt is fine for attraction,I try to give em some minerals,does it help?Not sure,doubt it hurts though.
