Lock ons, as long as you have enough of them. I didn't even use my climbing stand last year.

Exactly. Got to have enough to cover the area you intend to hunt for sure, else the ole climber will come into play.

I used to use climbers all the time except when on the farm and had our ladder stands there. Years ago I found this lock-on and climbing rails at a hunting show in Memphis and ever since that's all I use when hunting other land. I can get up into trees a climber would never be able to.

To be completely versatile and to handle every situation you may encounter, you will need several types of stands and steps/ladders. I use climbers, loc ons, 2 man ladder stands for my youngest kid, tree saddles, etc. I use screw in steps, strap on steps, multi piece ladders, one piece ladders, stacking ladders, tree hopper system with pins, etc. There is no way in the world you can effectively cover all situations with any one type stand IMO anyway!

I like them both for diffent applications.
My climber of choice-Lone Wolf I like to use it for long sits because it's comfortable. I use it obviously when I don't have a lock on available.
I like lock on's in early season when it's hot because I don't usually sit as long, and because I don't get as worked up and sweaty. I also like them on morning hunts because I can get in super quite and easy. But they are uncomfortable imo (at least the ones I have are)

API climber and ladder stands. Used to use loc-ons during archery{pre xbow} as I never could shoot acurately from my climber with bow.
