Last bow season, while hunting one of the small farms, I heard someone near me saying something like "I know I hit the deer.' Since I have hunters to the West of me and someone right on the line just South of me, when the wind is just right, I can hear parts of conversations. Anyone that hunts the "flatland" knows what I'm talking about.
A couple of weeks later, I kept seeing vultures go down back behind me, on the property where I am the only hunter.
i didn't want to go back there during the season and booger it all up, as we call it, so I just made a mental note of where it was.
Today, I was over there taking stands down and walking around and remembered it, so I walked over there.......
here's what I found.......
16 inch inside spread, 7 inch G2s, 8 inch G3s, nice mass....
Darn shame.......IMO.
the rodents had already eaten down the brows and had started on the tips of the main beams.....
again...a real shame.

BH- A while ago I was elk huntingt near Steamboat and my hunting partner said something to effect that he had a hunter in there a year earlier and he shot a really nice bull. No blood, couldn't find a thing.
We stopped in some dark timber for a shot of water and I looked to my right and saw something white. It was a gagging 6X7 rack. The arrow was still there.
Doesn't that just want to make you want to kick a cat? But wait till you find a dead human. Once is enough.

BH, like we said before, its hunting and those things do happen... I sure hate it, that's for sure.

not a northern thing....
I just always was told that the proper name for this bird is turkey vulture and the slange was buzzard.....
sometimes I just call them, nasty........
