This probably means nothing from nothing except to me.

Having said that, I don't allow anyone (friends or family) to go on my property two weeks before opening day. Prior to that I allow limited access for ginsangin, turkey hunting and cutting the fields and necessary barn maintenance. Been doing this for 20 years.

I have been a member of tndeer for quite a while now and I've read the posts that poo-poo this isolation, but my sons, friends and I have been successful every year including this last year where we killed three mature deer...2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 year olds. I don't bait, salt, foodplot, comere deer or anything else to attract deer...only isolate the area.

Therefore, I don't want coon hunters, rabbit hunters or their dogs on my farm and my neighbor feels the same way with his farm. It's worked for us so I don't want to fix it regardless of any report from anyone or thing.

I agree with you.......if I had a club like Chaney, there would be very little small game hunting on it .....

actually, I would designate the areas where you could go small game hunting.....

all that human traffic has to have an effect on the deer...especially with dogs.....

can you imagine if you were allwoing rabbit hunters, squirrel hunters and coon hunters in a place while you were trying to deer hunt....

good luck with that

If that works in your area I'd keep doing it...it's possible it has no effect in my area either but since I adopted this "isolation" technique, if you want to call it that, I've been very successful when others have not in the same area.

there is no way to tell about the effects until you stop hunting those other things for a while and see how the deer herd looks then.....

just because you see plenty of deer , does not mean that many others aren't being pushed out to less active areas around you....

We knew it was tthe same one, because he had a deformed hoof, you could easily tell his track.

For what its worth.

How big was the place you jumped it out of ? Was it bed it down with in 100 yrads of where you jumped it and how long did you run it in hours?
Oh yeah, several times he ran at least a few miles before we got the dogs off of him,as far as his bed, same small valley,I dont know exactly, but within a hundred yards or so

as long as we kill deer in those same places, there are NO ill effects.

A big difference exists between well-trained coon dogs (that are trained NOT to chase deer), and stray dogs, the neighbors' dogs and poorly trained coon dogs.

Just having coon dogs and coon hunters working through probably isn't much of a problem at all. But once the dogs start chasing deer, that would be a problem.

when you start riding 4 wheelers around at nite, hunters hollering at dogs then shooting the coon out it will make the deer leave the place, for how long depends on a lot of factors. the older a deer gets the less he will stand for folks tramping around his bedroom,do it if you want to but leave me out of it,i have seen to many deer pushed 5 miles or more by a large walker coon dog, also seen them hit the water & cross the lake, the longer you can keep them on your hunting land the higher your chances will be to protect the younger age group & maybe harvest a older class if thats what your after, small game hunting & deer hunting dont mix when dogs are added,mike243
