Is the number of B&C bucks the only way to measure the hunting? I sure hope not, or hunters have truly "lost the way." X2

Fort Campbell is a bonus buck, totally different scenario. Ft Campbell has lots of onetime visitors. So the whole, being selective, goes out the window. I wouldnt read to much in to any quota hunt, or WMA hunts where the harvest of a buck doesnt go against your state tage. Exactly my thoughts. When you have visitors hunting there a couple days a year...and no restrictions... young deer will be harvested more often. Really?I wouldnt change my goals,no matter where,or how often I got to hunt. Thats good then. I would think, there are alot of hunters knowing that (IF) they wasnt returning to the Fort that particular year, it was there last afternoon, and the hours were getting short... I think the "goal" may be lowered a little. Younger deer would be targeted. It would almost be like passing up a "freebee" deer if they didnt harvest it. I know for certain it has happened inside other areas within the state that holds some great potential.
Excatly! Couldn't have said it better myself! I've been hunting Campbell now for 8 years and I think this is why such a large 1.5year old buck harvest!

I am pretty sure if there is a way to check it that military killed most of the deer last year. Most soldiers have no where else to hunt. Most soldiers in the 101st know they are deployed about every other year so they take what ever buck comes along,as it should be.Most may only be stationed there for only a couple years. They have no reason not to shoot the 1.5 year old bucks.
Fort Campbell is just fine, leave it as it is!
Very true and I agree 100%

KY one buck limit is working. They are climbing the charts as far as places to go to hunt trophy whitetail. How can you argue with that? What is the hunter success rate in KY? 100% for me. it is not IF i kill one, it is how big/old will the one i kill be?

Why don't we go to the one buck limit and harvest does until the buck to doe population gets more balanced? Most hunters in the state are more than satisfied with the limits we have now. If a hunters success can only be measured by the score of the antlers of the buck he takes we are in sorry shape. Most hunters couldn't care less about where the state stands in the record books, they just want to hunt and be able to kill what they want whether it is a spike or a booner.
x2 Well said!
