I was watching The Wild Outdoors and they were talking about the coorelation between states that kill big bucks and when their gun seasons take place.
Their argument was that states that have there gun seasons during the rut kill alot more Immature bucks, therefor not allowing as many bucks to mature. States that have a bow season during their rut allow more bucks to make it through the season producing an older age class of bucks the following year.
I'm not suggesting any changes my self in our seasons because I enjoy gun hunting the rut. Anyone else have any opinions on the matter?

They are just pointing out the obvious. I agree with BSK's saying that goes something like - "A monkey can manage a deer herd in the midwest" - something like that
This below statement says it all......
to them its all about MONEY........

to them its all about MONEY........ How does not having a gun season make it,"all about the money"?Wouldnt you sell more gun tags during the rut?

Several states do not have their first firearms season until after the rut has peaked. Ohio used to be like this (I'm not sure if they still are though).
Does this "save" bucks? Certainly.
Does more "saved" bucks imply there are more older bucks for hunters to harvest? Yes, it implies that, but the proof is in the pudding. How many older bucks are actually being harvested? Does the number of older bucks harvested equate to the number of record-book or "trophy" bucks harvested? The available data--when comparing states--says "No."

they attract outfitters buy moving gun season later......outfitters attract tourist/hunters.....tourists/hunters bring in money......and money makes people happy......and the world go round...and pro hunters promote that particular state...and outiftters...every show you see are always at some outfitter...you hardly ever see them hunting on their own land...they pay someone THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS....oh wait money...to hunt......and hunter celebrities....make them even more money by promoting that state......they don't show that its all about the genetics....food.....cover.....terrain..........opening gun season later probally dont have and effect on it....look at the northeast....not many "pro"hunters ever go up their.....most states up their...like MA...you can only kill 1 deer a year....ONE DEER PER HUNTING SEASON!!!!...now tell me its not all about money.

Hard to make sense out of all that Devin, why would outfitters be more interested in a later gun season, than an earler gun season?
