Then why has KY come on so strong in the last 5 to 6 years? Why are they now the #1 producer in the last 5 years of book bucks? [/quote]

IMO, it is because more people are managing for big bucks in order to make big bucks ($). Selling deer hunts for $2-3K each or high dollar leases is a lot easier than corn for $3/ bu or calves for $400 each.

Blackpowder only (bye bye savage) and no scope during muzzleloader season? Become a draw state (Kansas, Iowa, etc)? Seems to me that we should be careful what we wish for.

I'm for a two buck limit because I would like to see TN become a better Quality State. I also think our longer seasons gives us a chance to pick and choose what we shoot. I don't think TN will ever be a trophy state.

The problem is deciphering why the current "trophy states" are so. Are they producing more trophy bucks because of their limits/seasons or because of their fantastic resources?

As I've said many times, a monkey could successfully manage for Trophy Bucks in the Midwest. Do nothing and you will have trophy bucks.

The same reason TN is coming on strong over the last few years. The primary resource (mature bucks) have finally reached a population level where they are highly accessible.

Now when it comes to B&C entries, that's purely habitat quality.

Habitat quality, What about S Texas? pretty much an alkline soil there? Eastern Ky, applician mountains, very little row crop, low quality soils?

Good question, and the answer is definitely not their limits, because the buck limit has went unchanged for way more than the last 5 years!

I communicate with Ky DNR and they feel the limit have made the biggest impact, why would I want to disagree with them?

Well said. And if you want a less than three buck limit then stop at two or one, if that's your preference. Then we can all worry about other things. LOL
