In the Southeast, most bucks should hold their antlers until at least March. In the Southeast, early antler drop is a sign of physical stress (not a good thing).

In Perry County, I would be seriously concerned if most of the local bucks shed their antlers this early on a regular basis. One year's experience may have more to do with environmental factors.

I have gotten several bucks on camera...where i hunt...they have lost their horns....but they are very Fat.......they look very healthy....but i think the cold weather has made them drop them already.......i have about 5 or 6 diffrent bucks on camera....all of them look like the just shed them too....the only thing if can figure is that from what i saw they had a very rough rut.....the doe numbers are down from us harvesting them...and i could hear them fighting all the time....i figure that had something to do with it.
