For at least thirty years, I've been using a great, inexpensive, little tool called the Speedy Stitcher for making and repairing all kinds of hunting and other outdoor gear. I put a video on my blog about using it to repair a pair of torn coveralls http://pursuithunting.blogspot.com/2010/02/gear-repair-with-speedy-stitcher.html
There is also a full video review and demonstration of using it to repair a tie-down strap here http://pursuithunting.blogspot.com/2010/02/speedy-stitcher.html
As I say in the review, I've probably saved fifty times what I paid for it. I'ts one of the most useful tools I own. Hope you all find this useful.

I have one of these as well, I use it on all kinds of repairs.
I bought a large spool of heavy green nylon thread at military surplus outlet in PA. yrs ago. That stuff is tougher than iron.

XX75's Rock! Still use 'em. Why fix what ain't broke?
Speaking of X's, that X-pattern that I used on the coveralls worked really well. I've got a couple repairs that I did with the straight-line method that that I may re-do. It is a whole lot easier and neater when you can only get to one side of the job - like the strap on a knife sheath that has come un-done on the end that attaches way down in the sheath.

Yep. Like I said in the review, that thing has paid for itself at least 50 times over.

Good review. Cabela's says, "Unfortunately, due to system issues, we cannot sell this item online at this time. Please call 1-800-237-4444 to purchase this item."
