Been reading a lot lately. Lots of articles and such. Just bored I guess. I won't name names or products. However, I'm starting to notice, as some on here have said many times, that even the most well known deer biologist in this country have apparently forgot what they got into that field for in the first place.

They are more worried about selling products their name is attached to than simply doing what is right....or at least what I've always heard is right. One well known biologist is even saying to not plant this and that, which has always been well known for good deer plot food but it's pretty apparent he wants you to plant "his" product.

Sad thing is, they are doing this in magazine articles now, not just in commercials.

Thank goodness for folks like BSK, BGG and AlanP. There is another on Aldeer from Auburn, not even going to try to spell his last name but he seems to very helpful over there.

It has turned into a marketing scam, that is what happens when the money starts to roll in. Kroll is the worst by far IMO.

Many of these guys do not have near the knowledge as some of the folks who are less known out there.

I guess once they get a regular TV gig, the whole credibility thing goes out the window.

basic knowledge for the novice "beginner" hunter is attainable through these "experts". However, if you try to hunt Texas style in Tennessee or listen to specific details about strategy from a guy or gal that has never hunted your state or region, not to mention YOUR land or set-up, then you are just plain foolish, IMO.

Would I push a product that I've never proven works just to get a paycheck........not sure, never been in that position before.

IMO, don't blame the salesman, blame the buyer....

Take C'meer Deer for instance. They spread it out (over a field planted in white clover). They hunt it the next day and say "Man, they sure love this C'meer Deer"!

How about the deer might have been coming to eat the clover?

I have never used this product but I get soooo annoyed to see Hank Parker go pour out a bag of it, shoot a 170 inch Kentucky buck and say "There is no doubt that he was comin' in there to the C'meer Deer".

How about the fact that you are a television celebrity- who is hunting with an outfitter (free advertising), who has provided you the superb stand location due to HIS benefits from this hunt. THERE IS CLOVER IN THE FIELD FOR PETE SAKE!

Now ya kill 2 birds with one stone- Hank Parker wins because he shoots a 170 incher over C'meer Deer, with a Schwacker broadhead at Bullwinkle Outfitters.

C'meer Deer wins.
Schwacker Broadheads wins.
Bullwinkle Outfitters wins.

Research some of these outfitters and read some reviews:

http://www.huntinfo.com/reviews/outfitter_reviews.php3

You will come across some reviews such as Illinois Monster Bucks (IMB) where the clients will tell you about how they were pushed aside for the TV guys. (Some are very eye opening)

Advertising is everything these days fellas! Now continue to set on your couch and drink Bud Light, and eat Doritos as you log on to godaddy.com!

If we had the sponsers the so called experts have and got to hunt the places they hunt we would all be experts. I mean some of those guys pass more bucks in an afternoon than I see all year long.

Common sense would dictate that there's no way these celeb deer hunting gurus could possibly have enough time to scout and hunt all the places filmed during the course of a season. The outfits they hunt stand to gain the potential business keeping their door's open by showcasing these hunters filming monstor bucks and shooting a few on camera. The supplies and gear they use pays these hunter's way. Everyone is scratching each other's back. That's what business is all about...I gain, you gain, we gain. Some where along the line what was once done strictly for pleasure becomes a job and more consideration is taken on the money aspect than the actual hunting. Sad but fact.

It's not so much the "celebrity" guys but the actual biologist that are supposed to be helping us but are more worried about pushing their products.

I understand guys like Waddell and the Drury's doing what they do. They have shows to pay for.

Don't confuse experts with pro-deer hunters. Most of those pros wouldn't know a whiteoak tree from Russian thistle. That's not what we are talking about.
