assuming this shot was at me, i get 300-600 pics a week. ALL were at night this year. maybe you need to start thinking before you spout off!! just saying! ;\)

Just saying what, you said you got ZERO daylight pics all year, then your giving advice on where/how to set cams??? I think its pretty obvious as to who needs advice, as you cant hunt at night, legally anyway! If you get that many pics at night, you need some serious help in knowing where to get them during daylight! Im sure there are several on here who woulld be willing to help you out and make you succesful with your camera if you just asked them! Just saying!! lmao

ALL deer activity on our place was noctournal THIS year. i have plenty of daylight pictures from the previous years in the same places. i saw a grand total of 4 deer all season during daylight hours yet the deer sign was more than i have ever seen.

I agree with Stik on this one as far as the deer movement this year. On our property during the summer we got tons of daylight pictures. But once the season ramped up the buck ALL went nocturnal. I went out just about 2-3 x's per week and only saw 1 spike. BUT I did see a lot of does. I've never seen the bucks go so nocturnal in all my years hunting.

OK... so I went out to the new property and placed the cam and TR about 100yrds into some hardwoods on a stump. There are plenty of places to get a climber in there too.
I placed it near a well used trail and set it on a large stump.

How long does it take for the deer to find the TR if you did not put it directly on a trail?

It all depends on the area, but most times the deer will find a Salt site within just a couple days, especially after it warms up a little and daily usage increases.
If you are having trouble with the deer suddenly going nocturnal during hunting season, I would try some different tactics/approaches that maybe would be less intrusive and not alert them so much to the fact your hunting them. Especially with older deer, once they know you are hunting them, they become much harder to kill, but during November they are definitely not normally even close to being totally nocturnal, they have just learned to avoid you and your camera sites.

The reason they were nocturnal so much was because we had a guy on our lease that was "high up" on the epsilan of lease members that kept wanting and moving stands. He'd be moving large 2 man stands like once a week.
Between that and the fact that we found another guy that would walk the whole property all week long -vs- still hunt.

It was corrected mid-december and guys started seeing many deer on the food plots all during the day as well as some more bucks. I was just not one of the lucky ones to see a buck during daylight other than a spike.

Sounds good as to only a couple of days for the TR. I put it out on Saturday so I'll wait and check the cam not this weekend but the following.

The new property we got had a big buck program implemented so it should be interesting to see. Hopefully a couple still have some headgear left!

I understand CH, thats normally the case, just takes 1 person to ruin a good piece of property if they dont know what their doing, especially in regards to older deer. Deer dont just go nocturnal for no reason, its usually because someone that doesnt know what their doing is keeping them spooked regularly, by hunting with bad winds or wrong entry exit routes to stands, constantly spooking deer while waltzing around during season, invading their sanctuaries, etc. If you have someone making all the wrong moves it will definitely hurt your daytime sightings.
Good luck with the Cam and I would suggest trying 'loose trace mineral salt' in the future, it will work just as well as the TR and it costs much much less per lb. I have used both in side by side comparisons on the same properties and had equal if not better use from the cheaper Salt.
