It maybe just me, but I wouldn't set up on the rock. Get back from it and intercept deer headed to it. I think you could mess it up if you were right on it.

I set up a trophy rock this year on a stump right on the edge of a thicket and a hardwood. There is an old barb wire fence that seperates the hardwood from the thicket and the only spot it is down on the property is right at this stump I set it up at. Picked out a tree about 15yards from the stump in the hardwoods. I set out the rock in March with no cam on it and let the deer get used to it, then in June I put out another rock and set up a cam on it. The usage I got with this setup was amazing! Below are pics of the deer and usage. The vids are in the tree that I mentioned above. Good luck with this, if you do it right you can create an unreal place for trail cam pics and a really great hunting spot. I've harvested 4 deer out of this tree and my buddy harvested 1.

I prefer to have my Trophy Rocks back in the woods (so that deer feel more comfortable using them in daylight) but along a trail or old logging road that leads to a food source, and within 50-100 yards of the food source.
