I would love to travel around the United States and hunt deer using the different hunting tactics that these other places have to offer. I have been fortunate enough to hunt in a couple of different states, using different tactics to kill deer. I guess this is why I try not to judge others when they want to hunt in a manner that others judge not hunting or unethical. Maybe one day I will be able to mark every state that has deer off my list.
P.S. I'm still a little worried about making that 400 yard shot at one, across the prairie lands....

i have hunted deer like rabbits in ND jump em up shoot em on the run
that was a blast
Running dogs is a blast also... Your heart starts pumping when you here the dogs getting close.. You are hoping that a big ole buck is in front of them and you can let that buckshot fly...
P.S. Until I started hunting in TN, I have never hunted with anything but buckshot. Couldn't believe it when I found out it was illegal to use on deer in TN.

Sounds like fun, but I don't think SAR Swimmer would approve.

I would love to travel around the United States and hunt deer using the different hunting tactics that these other places have to offer.
I've been corresponding with a deer manager from southern England (West Sussex). Aparently, we in the U.S. have a completely inaccurate picture of hunting in the UK. Deer hunting is a very rapidly growing sport and deer numbers are exploding. In fact, they are starting to suffer the same problems we had about a decade to two decades ago with severe habitat degredation due to deer over-population.
They have four primary species of deer, with the fallow and roe deer being the two most sought after by hunters. Red deer are available in Scotland. Most hunting is "stalk" hunting, but ladder stands and box-blinds are gaining in popularity. Almost all deer hunting is done with rifles. Archery and muzzleloaders haven't caught on there yet.
I wouldn't mind giving hunting there a try.

I miss it too, excellent fellowship and exciting. The sound of the jump is a sound you'll never forget.
DA i don't know you, but just from what I've seen on here, you would go crazy on a doggin deer hunt. I think you'd have the time of your life!
