Not sure of age but have an idea due to body size

I agree
Deer dreseed 118 lbs
Was the hunters 1st time to deer hunt and killed a buck (spike)
He was close to what our 2.5 on might weigh on the low end so I was not 100% sure

Thank you

the three part molar is the key indicator for 1.5

If you don't look at the teeth, you're just wildly guessing.
Weight may be even less indicative of age than antlers.

I weighed a yearling buck a few years ago in Weakley County that field dressed 154 lbs. I weighed a 3 1/2-yr-old buck this year in Stewart County that barely went over 100 lbs, and he had an above-average 10-point rack for his age.

1.5 , 2.5, 3.5 age jaw bones are not too tough to decipher. ESPECIALLY 1.5 like this one. 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, get kinda sketchy for me without a live deer to look at. Like a 6.5 I got an up close and personal look at on Oct. 13th this year.

A few days ago, Ben Layton (TWRA) showed me the jaw bone of what he said was a 6.5 y/o. I guessed it at least 3.5-4.5 but he said it was 6.5.

Soil type and diet can have a serious affect on tooth aging determination.

I have taken SEVERAL deer I KNEW to be at least 3.5 to several different TWRA personel and had completely different ages guessed about their teeth. Primarily because they were still attatched to the VERY small doe.

can't age by body weight or antlers, but that is a heavy weight for a Tennessee 1 1/2 year old deer.

Aging teeth is a guessing game because no one can ever check their answers. It is a concept of theory and subjectivity.

1.5 can be aged by teeth
