Webster's definition of trophy: something gained or given in conquest or victory esp. when preserved or mounted as a memorial . Take note of these 7 words when preserved or mounted as a memorial.
This says a doe is a trophy. You gained it out of a victorious hunt. Esp. means especially if it's mounted but doesn't mean it has to be mounted. Therefore, any deer gained in the battle of hunting is a trophy. Now, explain this to others that don't understand trophy.

means something different to each individual, how can anyone say trophy hunting will be the demise of hunting? Anyway you see it, everyone is a trophy hunter because what they harvest is a trophy to them. In my opinion, if you harvest a deer just to kill it with no other benefitting factor then you are not a hunter. This is what will be the demise to hunting!
Here is something I hear a lot. A guy says, "I'm not a trophy hunter, I will shoot any mature deer." Is this deer not a trophy to this guy? If not, what in the he11 is he hunting for? Just to kill a deer to kill a deer does nothing for our sport. Why is it so hard for hunters to except that each individual has their own agenda when hunting? The state does what they see is right. We as hunters may not agree but we should be thankful that we can hunt. good post

if you don't honor each and every kill, you are disrespecting the animal imo

Good post and for each of us, our hunting desires are a bit different. And just as our desires are different, I would have to say that what we call a trophy is different. I cannot consider a doe, spike, or small buck a trophy. Why, because I consider them achievments or accomplishments that I am proud of, but not trophy's.
Now, my granddaughters first deer, whatever it is, will be a trophy...

When I no longer have a feeling of achievement when I kill a Deer I will no longer hunt Deer.

Webster's definition of trophy: something gained or given in conquest or victory esp. when preserved or mounted as a memorial . Take note of these 7 words when preserved or mounted as a memorial. so, by this definition, a trophy wife is not a trophy wife unless ...oh forget it......! To me, a trophy is something that you took great pride in achieving..... BH
Just cause she is a trophy wife doesn't mean she was "first place" trophy
