Okay guys and gals,
Lets take a look a what season it is? It's sure as heck not hunting season on each other... The topics on this site are for comments not attacks on one another. Please for the sake of hunters stay united as hunters regardless of how you feel about a topic or subject. We all need to take a breath and understand we are not going to agree on everything that's for sure. But we need to agree to disagree in a civil matter. Lets be thankful we are all hunters regardless how we hunt....To be honest we all want whats best to serve our needs as hunters...Sometimes its good to look at it from the other side too...

Double D- I am not sure you are on the right track. This has always been a site for disscusion and differing opinions. Sometimes we don't keep it quite as civil as we should but that is because we can't see each other. Sometimes someone gets a time out. If we were sitting around a fireplace, no problem. But there is nothing wrong with dissagreeing.
He11, nobody agrees with me and I don't get upset. Disscusion is healthy. It is a good thing. We do have to work on being civil but right now I am seriously pissed at BGG and BSK. They haven't posted in two days and I have had to keep things stirred up on my own.
It is not hunters hunting hunters. It is called boredom. When you have people like us, people with hard opinions, you are going to get fiesty. We all know it just us talking, no hard feelings. Now sure, every now and then you get a cloaca. Usually they get bounced pretty quick. If you can't play with others, you get thrown out of the sandbox. But I don't think any of us regulars attack anybody else. We been doing it this way a long time.
I have been blasted as much as anybody on this site and there is not a single person I would not sit down next to and talk.
Well...maybe one. But he is gone.

Please for the sake of hunters stay united as hunters regardless of how you feel about a topic or subject.
I have a different take on the topic Double-D-Team. I will support other hunters, even using practices I don't--for any number of reasons--as long as those practices are not damaging the image of hunting. And let's be honest, the future of deer hunting will be STRONGLY influenced by image over fact. We have few opportunities to educate the non-hunting public about the facts, but by our actions and support of different hunting measures we absolutely influence image and opinion.
And make no mistake, there are practices that the non-hunting public will NEVER support, and are in fact vehemently opposed to, right or wrong. As huntwriter wrote in another thread, survey after survey of non-hunters will find they generally support the idea of hunting as a population control method, especially those suburbanites that deal with car-deer collisions and damage to their shrubery and flowers from excessive deer densities. In addition, most non-hunters will buy into the idea that hunting teaches important life-skills through the woodsmanship skills required to be a successful deer hunter. Due to our past history, Americans still value the idea of woodsmanship skills. Sone non-hunters also understand that hunting can teach lessons in ethical behavior and sportmanship.
However, non-hunters have VERY negative opions--right or wrong--about hunting styles/behavior they consider "unfair" or improperly focused. Two thing non-hunters have very negative opinions of are "trophy hunting" and baiting. Again, the true facts about both of these practices is unimportant. Non-hunters will never see or hear them. Image is virtually everything and both of these practices are extremely damaging to the image of hunting.
I will not support either of these practices and I will argue as strongly as possible against them. If I could wipe these concepts from the lexicon of hunters, I would do so. If I come across as hard on those who promote these ideas, I mean to be. When we deer hunters are a tiny minority of the population, and the future of our sport rests in the hands of those who judge us on our image, I'm going to work diligently to protect and improve that image. If that means hurting some hunters feelings, or even verbally running them out of town on a rail, so be it. The future of hunting for all of us is more important than the personal desires of a few, ESPECIALLY when those desires are highly dubious both biologically and ethically.
