While reading the discussions about legalizing baiting many pro-baiters were refering to food plots as baiting. That made me think of a similiar comparison. What is the difference between putting out a trail cam or spotlighting? I am DEFINITELY against spotlighting but: if baiting is allowed now as long as you don't hunt over it and now some want to legalize it for hunting; who is to say that in 2 or 3 years some folks push for legalized spotlighting as long as there is no weapon with you (which is legal in some states). So that brings me to the comparison that if trail cams are okay to use when will some want to start spotlighting for their scouting purposes. Just a thought!!!

Was in Sc when I was there, lots of fun and legal, long as there was no gun. Finally did away with it,to hard to enforce, cant stop em all.Never really use it for scouting though, just would ride around late at night and shine fields. But it was fun.

Trail cams have light which locates a deer inorder to photograph it and seeing some of their reactions to this light I'd say that it IS harassment.
I guess trail cams are for the NOT SO Stupid and Lazy though, LOL.

If I remember right, TN when from allowing you to spotlight deer at night, to allowing you to do so without a gun in the truck. Game Wardens told me that poachers would get around the law by having to trucks, one with the light and one with the gun. Then they stopped it all together. Some of the others may know more, but thats what I remember.

Nobody spotlights! They are just looking for the cows that got out. Don't believe me, just ask them!

spotlighting use to be legal.I wish it was still. It would be fun to drive around at night to see deer.i don't think it would do much for scouting.I would much rather use a camera and get pics. in daylight to know where they are.

I didn't think anyone baited either but boy was I wrong. I thought those corn piles were for the migrating warblers for their long flights to and from south america.

I have no problem with spotlighting without guns. Lord knows I have killed and watched enough deer killed in spotlights, it certainly is the best time to see what is around.

Really the light doesn't locate anything.Whatever or whoever steps in front of it and snaps a pic.
