Here's a couple pics of a buck my 9 year old killed this year, my question is about the forehead. Notice how dark it is, also it was soaking wet, so much so that my buddy who came out to help me drag him out, kept asking me about it. I've never killed another that was like this. There was no rain or nothing, only the forehead was wet. Is there some type of gland up there or what? This guy was killed the day after Thanksgiving, is it rut related?

Yes sir there is absolutely a gland in the forehead and it is very important as much scent is dispersed by this gland on Rubs, licking limbs,, etc

Several of the bucks I have killed were wet like that.I figure it was from rubbing and the forehead gland.

Another reason why they make rubs, not only to help remove the velvet, but mark their territory.
