Well, after reading this book over the course of a couple years from the bench at the book store I fianlly broke down and decided to give Brand Herndon what he deserves. This is probably the best and most practical deer hunting book available. This book has taught me a lot about reading maps, deer travel, and one of the most important lessons I've learned is to disregard sign and hunt the terrain.

It is one of the few deer hunting books/articles I have ever read that is not just a bunch of fluff and "set up between the feeding and bedding area" same old - same old. That book is a keeper, imo.

I ordered it last week, after someone here recommended it. I'm only half way thru it but there is some great info in this book.

I have become a much better hunter than I was before reading that book.

Good info there for sure, much common sense put in print here and easy to understand. Terrain is KEY to consistent success on mature deer, its the onlly thing remotelly predictable about them! The book is worth the money for most!

Mapping Trophy Bucks is a good one. Another good book is Whitetail Advantage.

I've also wanted to read the book by Bobby Worthington. I think it's "The Science of Bowhunting".

I read Brad Herndon's book "Mapping Trophy Bucks" before the season. I have also become a better hunter. I topo'd a few spots before going to oak ridge on a draw hunt. On the scouting date my buddy and I went to some of the saddles I GPS'd. On one of the he found a matching shed that would score in the 140's. We did not see him or kill him but at least we had confidence knowing a good one had worked those saddles.
Also, on one of my small farms I hunt I hung a stand in an area I'd never hunted before. I saw more deer and killed two pretty decent bucks this year. I wasn't 60 yards from where I usually hunted but that small move put me closer and on more deer.
