While checking one of our pits today for any working ducks, we cut a large set of hog tracks, we couldn't stand it and when back for buckshot and rifles. After planning a push/drive we had 2 on the ground in 5 minutes, the largest was 375-400 lbs. Stewart County, TN

May not in East TN, but they are trapping them on the Refuge that joins me, have given permits to even shoot them at night with lights.

I've gotten to the point to where I don't even bother asking them anymore. If you wait for them to act, the problem never gets addressed.

Actually the larger Hog charged at the guy, we had already shot one with rifle, when it came out of thicket straight at him, it was shelf defense. 19 yard head shot running straight at him, he was just a bystander, who was lucky enough to have a loaded shotgun!

I know they don't allow it for deer, but with all the problems with hogs, why do you think they don't allow it?

guess they figure people will use it to kill deer.Same reason you can't bait hogs or hunt them with dogs.Thats the only reason I see why you can't hunt hogs that way.Never heard a reason from twra on it that I remember.

It was on my personal property, I join Cross Creek Refuge. They have a very serious problem with them, have been told by TWRA that they have hired a professional trapper/shooter to help with the problem. I try to help them all I can, whenever we seen them, the hogs are almost as bad as the Refuge hunters that come on to my land, TWRA working on them too!!
