I would have a hard time deciding between (A) one buck limit, same season length and (B) 2 buck limit, shorten gun and ML to one week each.
I cant speak for every place but the way I see it we put way to much pressure on the deer in my area. There just arent many 1.5 year old bucks left after a season, heck theres very few deer to begin with, even before season(10 psqm in many places with a 3 buck limit). So I just cannot justify our liberal limits and seasons no matter how its stretched. I find it hard to spend $130 for a license and $500 for a lease now. If the limit is cut I would probably just hunt my farm and not even buy a license. I fail to understand the reasoning for a lower limit on bucks unless it is strictly to increase the antler size of the bucks. Even when we had an eleven buck limit I doubt that many does went un-bred which is the primary reason that bucks exist.

I wish we would cut back on the timeframe that we use firearms to hunt with.Maybe a two buck limit.

For conservation. I understand that many that dont live in very low deer density areas dont understand it. And I wouldnt press for lower limits in those areas that have plenty of deer. But like I said, in the area I hunt and own property we need to conserve the deer population in a big way. And that needs to be done quickly, through the regulations and enforcement of those regulations. Unfortunately we have neither of those 2 things we need at this time, and my area is suffering because of it.

How many does in your area did not get bred because of a shortage of bucks (how many does did you see in the summer that did not have a fawn with them)? A low deer density can be cured more quickly by not allowing does to be harvested, not by protecting bucks by imposing a lower limit on them.

What is the difference in a spike and a button buck? Why would you kill the spike and drag it out but leave the button buck in the woods? The guy shooting the spike knew it was antlered and knew it would count as one of his three antlered deer. He wanted it. The guy shooting a button, thinking it was a doe, then discovering the nuts, didn't know it would take a "buck" tag when he shot. And as someone else said, what if he didn't have any antlered tags left, or if was an "Antlerless Deer Only" special hunt. It's just too difficult to tell at a distance if a larger button buck is a doe or a button. Sorry for hijacking this thread. I'm done.
i guess people need to be responsible for their actions. I am not asking for the death penalty, it is simply a lost buck tag. not the end of the world. hoepfully this would help educate hunters in the area of gender I.D.

no rifle season, add a shotgun season, no scopes allowed, 2 buck limit, but this is my opinion and it would tick off 85% of the hunters
