Never heard of anyone advise against it. Might be good advise on public land, but seems a little paranoid on private land. IMO its a shame that we even have to worry about some idiot blasting us while we are in the turkey woods. Somebody gets shot every year and its just senseless.

My dad had a guy back home in Florida sneak up and shoot his jake decoy not one time, but twice.

Done that personally more than I would care to admit \:\)

Read the TWRA reg book, every year they usually put in there to NOT sneak turkeys. 1.) it is almost impossible, 2.) it is extremely dangerous.

With the goons posing as hunters anymore, we cannot be too careful. A load of #5's to the face at 50 yards will more then likely leave you blind at best.

My question is why? Why run the risk? Why not learn to call, setup, and play the game as it is supposed to be played?

Is it worth it?

Wow, talk about a can of worms.

Setterman,
So you have never moved closer to a gobbling bird after your initial set up?

Play the game as it is supposed to be played ?

I am yet to see that playbook.

If you can play the sneaky sneak on a turkey and pull it off, in my opinion you have done more than just call and deer hunt a bird.
Don't get me wrong either way takes skill, paitience and woodsmanship but I will take either way on any given day.
But please don't imply that ANYONE is "less" of a turkey hunter ie: "learn to call, setup" because they like to chase a bird.
Don't fly in my opinion.

Usually after the first weekend in Ky calling is useless. We stalk em every year to get our limit. Just another technique.

I had a guy walk up on my setup at fort campbell last year. He was trying to stalk with a bow. Now that is hard to do.

i do whatever it takes it is all fun

one time i was crawling on the ground trying to get to a bird when a few of my cows come walking through so i got up keeping the cows between me and the turkey and slowly walked with the cows and it worked i got that bird it was about 35 yards

that is the only time the cows actually helped me out most of the time they run off the birds or come up to my decoys and knock them over

turkeys dont know how many feet a cow has
