close deer season altogether mid December
why? you would miss out on getting to hunt during the Christmas holiday.

youth hunt,2 weeks bow,2 weeks muzzle loader,2 weeks gun & then shut it down,leave the limit where it is,mike243 Just out of curiosity, why would you like to see the season only last 6 weeks? Not arguing with you, but just curious. it would reduce the harvest & seems like there's more horn focused hunters than in years past ,it would also cut down the cost for leases & maybe reverse the trend to lease out the property if its not going to be able to be used for such a short time.setting the weapon seasons for the same duration might stop some of the elitism within each group.as more young hunters enter into the sport it might direct more of them to be proficient with all the weapons in order to spend more time in the woods.besides,it would make it easy to keep track of   ,mike243

What is the difference in a spike and a button buck? Why would you kill the spike and drag it out but leave the button buck in the woods?
The guy shooting the spike knew it was antlered and knew it would count as one of his three antlered deer. He wanted it.
The guy shooting a button, thinking it was a doe, then discovering the nuts, didn't know it would take a "buck" tag when he shot. And as someone else said, what if he didn't have any antlered tags left, or if was an "Antlerless Deer Only" special hunt.
It's just too difficult to tell at a distance if a larger button buck is a doe or a button.

If I could make 1 new rule...
I would like to see a 6 tag lic.
3 bucks tags (button bucks count)
3 doe tags
But.. the tags can be used at any time of the season with any weapon....
Example: if you only bow hunt you still have 6 tags.

i know if i had to pay double the amount for hunting i would stop,if you cut the time to use the land by 50% how many would rethink the cost per day to hunt? ,my $ can be spent in other states ect to keep hunting ect...,mike243

One buck limit per weapon. You could still kill your 2 or 3
bucks, but only one buck with bow, one buck with muzzle loader,
and one buck with gun. For the ones who don't bow hunt, you will
get your 2 buck limit that many ask for.
Also, it could help the TWRA with funds. Many hunters who only
consider one weapon now, might dabble into the options of hunting
with other choices of weapons.
I guess a good example might be someone who has only gun hunted
in the past to "kill their buck limit", might discover bow
hunting and muzzle loader season. Who knows, they might be a
great and natural bow shooter.....and didn't even know it.
This would be great.

i suggested this when the limit went from 11 to 2 and was dragged over the coals for it.

I would have a hard time deciding between (A) one buck limit, same season length and (B) 2 buck limit, shorten gun and ML to one week each.
I cant speak for every place but the way I see it we put way to much pressure on the deer in my area. There just arent many 1.5 year old bucks left after a season, heck theres very few deer to begin with, even before season(10 psqm in many places with a 3 buck limit). So I just cannot justify our liberal limits and seasons no matter how its stretched.

If I could only change one law, I'm pretty sure I would make snipe and woodcock season open a week earlier...
Either that, or legalize atlatl and spear use during archery season
