If baiting is legal for fishing, It's only FAIR that baiting should be allowed for hunting. JMHO.

Baiting is legal in TN. You can use trophy rock, salt, etc... I know the book says those products are legal, but don't break down to a science and think about it for a minute. It's still bait. If not, what is it? Your drawing deer to a source whether it's food or not, it's an attractant.

If if baiting is allowed then I bet our limits go down. Atleast back to two bucks a year if not one. Also just a few does a year.

IMO, food plots are baiting! Is it illegal, no.
Anything that man does to alter the natural patterns and behavior of deer to increase the odds of success is in my opinion baiting.
So the way I'm seeing it is some hunters are baiting "legally" and others "illegally". Planting turnips, or piling up apples is no different.
Bash away.
Legalize it!!

Deer hunting is not supposed to be easy. It supposed to be the epitome of woodsmanship skills learned over a lifetime of hard work and experience. Reducing deer hunting to pointing a weapon at a pile of corn is not the epitome of woodsmanship skill, it is the epitome of the lazy, I-want-everything-for-nothing society we have become. If that's what you believe, why do you hunt out an elevated stand? Just go sell all those trail cams you have, never buy another trophy rock, learn to shoot a bow (had to throw that in), I can go on and on. If you're against it, fine, but come with something better than that. Don't preach woodsmanship, then get on here and show a pic of a 5 1/2 year old buck taken with your trail cam licking on a Trophy Rock with his belly full of clover from your food plot. Amen, Yodel. People get an agenda, and if you don't adhere, then what you think or what you do is wrong! All of these holier than thou types use every advantage they can to kill a deer, but if you don't see any difference in using some other advantage about which they don't happen to approve , say hunting over corn, then you are WRONG! Basically its just human nature for some to tell us how we ought to act, and think. Washington is full of those types, and there are a fair number on this forum. I will do what I please on my own property, and whatever that happens to be, short of launching an ICBM, is of no concern of anyone else. Some of us call that freedom. LOL So are you saying you favor baiting over learning to hunt? How did you meetr your wife. Bait or hunting? "Learning to hunt", like using tree stands,so-called scent blockers, rattling horns, grunt calls, trail cams, trophy rock, food plots as an attractant, range finders, state of the art crossbows, compounds that can cast an arrow at over 300 fps, expandable broadheads, rifles that can kill at 400 yards, muzzleloaders(primitive weapons)that can kill at 200? If you use any of this stuff, it is no different than hunting over corn as an attractant. All are designed to make killing a deer easier. ...., if you want to "learn to hunt", hide in a honeysuckle thicket with a spear! And, while it has been a long time ago, I believe that I acquired my wife, like most things that I have acquired in life, thru blind-hog luck. LOL

if its so bad then how come alot of other states do it Please list "all" the other states. You might be surprised at how few allow it. From what I could find on the net as of 2008: No Bait Allowed:Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, WyomingBaiting Allowed In Entire State:Arizona, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, New Hampshire, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, WashingtonBaiting Only In Selected Areas:Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, WisconsinSo 22 states allows baiting. Actually ended up being more than I thought. I feel like if you dont agree with baiting or hunting over it, then dont do it. "IF" it was ever legalized, then it would be "your" choice to do so or not. Until baiting is legal I am against hunting over it. Once it is legal, then like any other form of legal hunting, I say have at it! Your both right and wrong about GA. Yep No Baiting,But Ok if 200 yards away and out of direct line of sight.
