When I was in college and checked deer in for TWRA, some of the biggest deer I ever saw came out of the BSF.

This happens on all WMA's especially if the deer is a biggun. People just don't want to draw any attention to the WMA for fear that others will start hunting, which means more pressure. Public land hunters have it hard enough and do not want any added pressure. In some cases i believe the hunter is not really thinking about it and just checks it in, in the county it was killed in.

As for the doe kills were there any quota tags that maybe these people were drawn for?

I did a little research and discovered the problem, which I will fix on Monday. I traced the individual doe kills back to a single check station in Fayette county. It appears they were checking in deer from the South Fork Refuge as Big South Fork NRA.

um...well Im proud to say, almost every deer I have ever harvested has come from the Big South Fork...nothing like Gods Country! lol There does seem to be alot more quality bucks coming back to the Big South Fork, but not many people hunt it anymore. It used to be overhunted now its barely hunted..might even be a well kept secret anymore.
