Man that's unfortunate, and fortunate at the same time. Very nice find. Hopefully he's got some offspring running around you can hunt! My friend and I found a nice rack in Illinois and he bleached it out and it really looks nice. I think he just soaked it in chlorox and water and then brushed it off.

I am not 100 percent sure how this buck died, but 4 or 5 years ago my neighbor down the road told me a guy he works with shot a buck off the road on my place. He got scared and never went in to look for it. This might be the deer he shot from the road.

Nice deer..next you are this way, bring it in and I'll clean it up for you, no charge..minus the nose bones, it can be turned into a full on euro mount. If it needs it I can do antler repair and can "re-color" the antlers. It is still degreasable (if that's a word) and can whiten to a crystal white...seal it up and put it on a bracket and wala.. You'll think you just took it a month ago.
As far as how long it's been dead, I would be shocked if it died before last year. Rodents would have eaten that to the ground if it were 4-5 yrs ago.. I've been known to be wrong (many times) before though, lol.
