Had a friend kill what he thought was a doe last weekend of rifle, ended up being a buck who'd already shed. Same thing happened to me. I thought it was a young doe and it ended up being a young buck that had already dropped. On the flip side I was turkey hunting last April and saw two decent bucks running together with antlers still.

got 7 bucks in my field yesterday , one has only 1 side, all appear to be 1-2 yr olds. But in S IL and E Ky most all have dropped. But, I have picked up shed in TN the first week of jan!! Unless stressed or injured or bad shape, they tend to shed about the same time each year

a friend of mine was squirrel hunting yesterday in haywood county found a shed antler with blood still on the base.
