thats cool...i have killed several does that had the embyro in them........i dont feel bad.....its part of it......i dont get off on it...its helps who kill does to know what they are looking for........i was not 100% sure what the little jelly looking thing was...because i aint no doctor...but now i do.....killed 2 does this past year that had that in them.....it helps thin out the herd even more.../////////////and redblood...why dont you shoot does????? you do like to shoot big bucks.....i have found out over the last few years......that if you dont shoot does you wont see big bucks.......and they wont show their true antler potential.....i sure do hope that they make a rule that you have to shoot does before you shoot bucks.....maybe that will make some people quit hunting and have more deer for us real hunters......or they will learn to help us out and make it better for everybody....akl

Everyone needs to shoot what they want to its a personal decision, I didn't start this to start an ethics debate. Just to see if anyone in my area had noticed does being pregnant. As for being a "real" hunter personally I think that is ridiculous. But to each his own and I will continue to shoot what I want and you can do the same.

just dress'em and drag'em i don't pay any attention to anything inside the deer except the stomach good to see what they been eating

I have had this same discussion with the onwer of the lease that I am on. His rules state that all hunters should wait until late season to shoot does. He belives that by taking them early you may ruin the hunting spot and make other deer go noctural. I have taken my fair share of both bucks and does and have tried to take my freezer meat early. Then concentrate on the bucks during the rut and late season. They are most all pregnant by late season. By taking this one doe you have most likely taken three if not four deer from the herd. To each his own and I would never judge one way or the other, but it is something to think about.

Again, people keep using this argument about does being pregnant in the late season. It doesn't matter. Take a doe in the early season and you remove her and all the offspring she would have had once she became pregnant during the rut. Take her late in the season when she is already pregnant and you remove the exact same number of deer--her and the offspring she would have had. It's the same number of deer removed, whether she is pregnant or not. Kill her early or kill her late, you are removing the offspring she would have produced this spring/summer.
Now if someone just can't stomach the idea of killing a pregnant animal, I get that. But biologically it makes no difference when that doe is harvested. Either way--prenant or not--you are removing her as well as the offspring she would have had.

Without question there are real biological advantages to shooting does early.
1) You balance the sex ratio before the rut, when it will make the most difference.
2) You "save" all the food those does would have eaten by the time they are harvested late in the season.
3) Adult does are easier to differentiate from fawns early in the season.
Now these biological advantages must be weighed against the potential of producing excessive harvest pressure on a property before peak "buck hunting" time near the rut.
