Mine goes on very last after everything else, keeps anything from restricting them when I need them in a hurry. My Loggy Bayou Transformer harness actually has them built in as well, no need for the addtl harness when im using my safety harness!

Harness-no question and I use it all my cameras as well except for the little point and shoot. Before the harness, there was something called a Heber Strap. I still have a couple of those.

I have a harness, but don't use it. I prefer a method I saw Alan Altizer, a guy that use to make good hunting videos, use. I just use a long small cord tied to the binoculars at the normal attachment points. The cord is long enough so that when I loop it over my head and put one arm/shoulder through it, the binos hang right at my belt line. They are always out of the way, no chance of them interfering with my bowstring, and I too always know where they are at. They easily slide up into place when I reach for them. Just my $0.02 worth.

My only complaints with the harness are very small ones (nothing's perect):

1) The binos don't fit in the case with the harness on, so I either have to take the harness off when I put the binos in the case, or I put them in the case and leave the harness hangng outside the case

2) when I'm using the binos one-handed and turn to one side, the presure from the harness sometimes pulls the binos together (closes the gap between the eyes).

The benefits far out-weigh these small anoyances.
