Sorry about the delay on the story but I have been pretty busy with work. Some friends and I went to Caviness,TX to hunt one of our customers ranch. When we arrived at the ranch we were treated like family and not like guest. We ate breakfast with the owner and talked a little about business. After breakfast he told us that he expected us to kill a mature deer but kill what you would like. He showed us some of the impressive sheds that had come off of the ranch. The ranch owner hooked us up with a guide(Rodney)the guy was fantastic. He took us around to all of the stand site and give us his opinion on each. We all settled into stand on Friday evening and we all had encounters with alot of deer. One of the guys saw 2 mature bucks. One was a wide 10 pointer and the other was tall 9 pointer. I saw the largest 6 pointer I have ever seen and seen 4 other shooters running from about 300+ yards. The next morning I hunted the same stand of the previous evening the stand was called honey hole. At daylight I saw a 3 1/2 year old 8 pointer chasing a yearling doe. After watching him bother her for several minutes. I turned to my right and saw one the largest deer I have ever seen. The deer was about 300 yards away and was in a area that I could not shoot because of some of the land owners barns. After watching in disbelief for a few minutes I watched the deer move into heavy cover. Still in disbelief I turned to my left to see a big year enter the field edge at about 350 yards. After a few minutes the deer started moving towards my location. While watching the deer I saw the same 8 pointer chase the yearling deer to a small pond that was in front of me. The big deer that entered the field made a b-line to the 8 pointer and the yearling. After a little runing and tense moments the big deer gave me a shot at about 130 yards. To say the least I am one happy camper.
