I'm not all that interested in any type of African hunting...but I'd like to go someday just for all the variety. I'd stick with the various antelop species, though.

Megalo- I can send you to place that has all of those no application. Have no idea what it costs. I don't know of any fair chase hunts for anything like that.

The oryx (gemsbock) hunt in NM is 100% free range and fair chase on public land. But the hunt still runs around 80% success. Draw odds are around 2-5%, I've blanked the past 5 years applying.
Tag fees suck- $1600 for nonresidents, and another $150 for the WSMR use permit. But that's a heck of a lot cheaper than a trip to Africa.
But honestly, the thing that appeals to me most is doing it all by yourself. I've never really been a fan of hunting a place where someone is holding your hand and telling you what to shoot. Combine that with the high fence/ feeder aspect of it in Texas, and it's just really a hunt I want to do.
Now if I ever do get drawn for a sheep tag, I would actually spend the extra $$$ for an outfitter- I couldn't live with myself if I had to eat bighorn sheep tag soup

That is true only up to a point. But in reality, there are only a couple places you have a fair chance to kill one. One is a military reservation and requires a seperate permit. The other is a draw deal. Truth is, there aren't that many oryx in NM. You can buy an oryx permit but that doesn't mean you will see one.
I lived there for a while and have hunted there for years. I have never seen one. But...I have never looked for one.

I would love to...as well as any other African game. Noy to mention the wing shooting can be phenomenal as well.
The key to any herd animal like a zebra is not in killing one...but in killing a specific one.
