Great videos. They clearly display the "communal" nature of signpost rubs. Bucks of all ages and sizes investigate and rework the rub.
Also notice what each buck is doing--sniff and working the rub, and then sniffing and working the rub some more--especially working the rub with their foreheads. This is where the important "scents" deposited come from (the forehead gland).

Exactly BSK. I have saw some post here where they saw a button buck try to freshen an existing rub but didnt have any antlers, but they should know he was really depositing scent from the forehead glands. I have saw far more bucks simply deposit scent and smell existing rubs vs. actually reworking the rub with their antlers. I think most of the really aggressive rubbing is done at night. I have saw bucks make some pretty impressive rubs in daylight, but nowhere near the damage thats done under darkness. Scrapes sometimes are alot the same way, with bucks and does scent checking them and working the licking limb much more than actually frshening the actual scrape on the ground.
