For about the past 3 seasons I've been wanting to go up to Southern Indiana to scout a little bit of the wealth of public land they offer. It seems like a good place for trophy bucks. It sits right in the middle of all the other well known big states, has had a 1 buck rule in place for quite some time, has reasonalbe non-resident licenses, and it just doesn't seem like it is getting the non-resident pressure like the other Midwest states. It just seems like a sleeper state. Do any of you folks have any experience up there with the public land hunting? Just wondering if it's worth the effort. Thanks.

Hoosier Natl forrest should be good, your right about the liscense, easy and cheap. If your talking bow,you hardly have to deal with pressure any where.Saw a 180,yes 180 class gross typical 8 ptr on an Indiana forum.Thats big enough for me.Of course there is plenty of public land in western KY that is closer, and full of big bucks, and their liscense is better than Indianas.

FBH, oh my get off KY.....As for Indiana, it has been over 10 years since my last hunt there on public land so I don't think I'd be much help to you. I will say it is well worth your time and effort. Six of us went and the smallest deer was a 137 8 pointer. Of course it was mine.......

Ghosthunter, I'm looking in Indiana myself, I have a great aunt that lives up there. I have hunted Ky the last 2 seasons and this coming season I'm going alittle further north. How did you do on the mountain the year. I'm about burned out with the place myself.

.YOUR KILLING ME...... All right you got me...Let's me and you hunt KY next season and you can prove it to me. Actually,I was thinking of asking you about LBL,or the fort, whichever one I hear you talk about a lot.Its the fort, seems confusing to me,but Ill be happy to show you some spots in Ky too.Im thinking of branching out some this year.

I'm use to hunting those mountain deer and having low sightings though. I'm sure you can get on deer on top but I don't even bother wasting my time up there. Those deer use those coves as if they were a thicket. It's their sanctuary.
