first of all, I would not take time to age the deer and even if I did I wouldn't be so sure that one was 2.5 and one was 3.5 to choose...I'd shoot the wall hanger.
BH
Same here. I go for antlers not age.

Not trying to highjack G-B but wall hanger varies from hunter to hunter. How about wall hanger is defined as 5" bigger than anything you have ever killed.

I would take the 2 1/2 yr old 10. We only protect yearlings on the land we hunt. I may also add, although it has been proven on this site older bucks may have inferior racks, that is not usually the case.

I would take the 10 point also but I just wanted to see what some of the answers would be, because some hunters like to use the word "Mature Buck" when they describe what they are looking for. In this case the older buck has a smaller rack....

I see what you mean. My wife just said my focus and cadillac comment was smart-alecky. Sorry

vabuckbuster, your comment was right on the money. GNB, I agree with what you say but another view to me is a Mature Buck is in the eye of the taker. I've said it a lot I like mature bucks but with a mature buck comes a mature rack as well, for the most part. A 2 yr. old high rack 8 pointer is a mature buck to some hunters.
