Will the frigid temps of the last few weeks affect young trees thaT WERE SET OUT IN THE FALL?

It is possible that some of them could fresze.Too late now but it would have been good to cover them with straw or a good mulch.
It would not normally be nessacary in Tn. . The extremely cold weather we had only happens about every 5 or 10 years

If you packed the tree in really good you should be ok. still like to spread a little straw over the ball.

You should be fine, the air pockets in the ground is alot of what kills the trees.

With any luck you might just need some pruneing.What size were the trees?Were they grafted?Sometimes the cold can kill the graft but not the rootstock. Wait untill well into spring before cutting anything.

should be fine... my crabapples in pots are fine... they are sitting in the back yard, and are green with set buds....
