right before the woods start turning green. That way you can still see in the open woods and all the bucks have had a chance to drop, and you just have to cover the ground one time...
If there are other folks lookin in the same areas then you may want to start earlier and cover the areas over and over...thickets, fence crossings, main trails, etc,,,

What WInchester said, Although I have never had any luck finding any, I always stumble upon singles while turkey hunting!

Sure fire way to collect sheds.

Make a W with chicken wire using 5 line post. Poor corn as closer to the wire bottom on both sides, when they eat the corn they knock the horns off.

PS: I know BSK, BW feeding the deer corn is not good so before you hang me I know now..... But it works to get sheds... \:D

Shed traps are starting to become popular and some are o.k. but be careful, as some will get entangled with the Antlers and if the buck is not ready to shed can cause a big problem. The bait alone works about as well, as you are causing them to spend more time either at the feeder, or in close proximity to it, which in turn makes a higher % place to find the sheds. I personally prefer to roam the woods looking for them, as you can learn a great deal this time of year, and my old chubby arse needs the exercise these days! lol
