What do you think of a late Jan.doe hunt and baiting is legal. Some people do not like to shoot does in regular season as for scaring there bucks? Just a thought. That way we want have to worry about more pressure on the bucks?

If extra doe harvests are necessary, fine.
But a huge NO on baiting.

I would have no problem with having a late doe hunt but I don't see why baiting would be necessary.

I would not want a late Doe hunt for 2 reasons.
#1, a lot of bucks have dropped their antlers by then, and you could be shooting a trophy buck and never know it.
#2, Does would be pregnant by then and you wouldn't be killing just 1 doe, but possibly 2 or 3. Also, button bucks would get grouped into this equation.
I killed what I thought was a doe several years ago on New Year's day. When I walked up to it, I noticed it was a buck that had already shed its antlers.

People will not go for this because they are afraid someone might kill a buck that has already shed.

If you can't kill em in 3 1/2 months, one more hunt won't help you get one, baiting or not.

Guys it don't matter if you kill a doe during archery or at the end of January, when you kill a doe you are taking her and her future fawns out. So it makes no difference when you kill her..I don't think TN needs a late season doe hunt,i think the liberal limits of Unit L keeps them in check..

I'm with BSK. January Does-Yes where necessary. Absolutely NO baiting. Do your homework and scouting.

i believe the reason he was talking about baiting is because it would be a hunt to reduce doe numbers and in late season its hard to see a doe after the long gun season.don't think that means he is a bad hunter or that he needs to learn how to hunt.
