The gun is a Remington Model 760 that was manufactured in 1971. It's a 30-06. I've put a Zeiss 3-9x40 on it and replaced the wood...and I had the barrel trimmed a bit.
It's been all over the country and it spent 9 days in the backwater once. I got it before I ever had a drivers license.
I insisted that my son carry it. Like I said, he's had accuracy issues and that gun is trained!
I was at my wit's end to rebuild his confidence in himself.
All in all, a really good afternoon!

Congrats, I did that 1 year shot a buck the last hour of season its pretty neat to end on a bang!

He ain't gettin that one, it's MINE.
He'd lost confidence in himself and everything he was using.
He's had a really rough year. He's seen more deer this year than I've seen in the last two and couldn't hit the side of a barn if he was locked inside it. Last few years he's killed everything he's seen. This year has been one of those years for him that we've all had at one time or another.
I just needed some way to break his bad luck streak.
He knows what that rifle will do. I was glassin and ranging for him. Made him get solid on the sticks and talked him through the shot.
He just needed to be convinced that he could do it!

Congrats on a Nice deer and an excellent shot !
I was with my cousin back in the 80's when he was shooting his dad's 760 in a 270. He popped a doe at nearly 250 yards using a redfield wideview 4x scope. She dropped in her tracks. Not bad for a 15 year old back in the day. I love those guns. I currently own 3 of the 7600 pumps. (30/06, 270 and 25/06)
My uncle still shoots that gun to this day. He bought it used in the early 70's for 75.00, and it still has the same redfield 4x scope on it. If it had a notch of wood taken out of it for every deer it has killed, it wouldn't have a stock or forearm...lol
