Not get bogged down trying to kill one particular buck. However, he warranted that much attention, but it should have taken me 1/10 of the time to kill him.

Spent more time around fields, especially in the evenings.

Put a little more thought into where the stands were placed, or use the climber more.
(I over-hunted my best stands, and there were a couple that were never hunted.)

Normally I don't hunt a spot more than twice a year. Not the case this season. I hunted a spot 8 times. I let the amount of sign get the best of me. I probably pressured the mature deer in that spot nocturnal or out of the area.
What I would do different ignore the sign and do what has worked for me in the past. Move, move, move. Every mature buck I have ever killed has been the first time Ive hunted a stand that season. I doubt seriously its just a coincidence.

I never regress about a deer season simply because everything that I did I did because I thought that was the thing to do at the time.
Looking back and second guessing myself makes me think too much and I already do that anyway...haha.
I just log everything in to my mind for future reference and push on to the next season...
Good Luck to all in 2010.
