My goodness!!
You mean you actually got cuffs on the guy,or almost got em on and he broke away and ran? Did he overpower you during this time?
At least you have his tag number and there is no way he can run from that. Please keep us posted on his prosecution. I hate a thief.

I still wonder how a man could actually be in a position to cuff a guy and then the guy escapes only to drive away. Spooky.
Had to be either a tactical error or the thief was physically stronger than the one doing the cuffing. Glad to hear no one was hurt.

Would be interested in learning more about your expertise, training and experience in arrest and restraint techniques.

Only experience I got is common sense, which tells me don't try to restrain a man out in the woods for a simple theft without some buddies there to help me out.
Gotta use any advantage you can get in order to not be killed or injured. Common sense goes a long way, especially if you got a tag number.

It happened very quickly, I did have my gun, but will not shoot someone over a ground blind. If he had tried to harm me I would have dropped him like a rock,no second thought.I was alone, no backup for at least 20 miles, and I had his tag and truck right off the bat.And he didnt want to fight , he wanted to get away..I was not going to get into a high speed car chase on those winding , ridge laden Ice covered roads,I knew he would get caught later by his tag number.
