Just curious if anyone that hunts public land in the middle Tn area during archery season has any luck seeing/harvesting big bucks? I realize this is a relative statement depending on the area and the time dedicated to scouting, etc. Due to lack of money for a lease and having less that productive places to hunt, I think I'm gonna try it next year.
I guess another question would be is there alot of hunting pressure during archery season in these areas?

with a little research and leg work, you can find overlooked areas on most WMA's.

Yes I hunt a couple of different public places around the Cookeville area. Pm me if you want more info, and try to come to the breakfast get together on the 23rd.

Thanks. I know that's probably a dumb question, but I'm gonna give it try. Just like anything else it's what one is willing to put in to it. I guess hunting wouldn't be fun if it were easy.

Yote, I really only get to hunt public land in Mid TN. I see more deer in bow season than any other and there is not nearly as many hunter's out there during bow. As far as big bucks they are there, but they are super smart and you really have to be in the right place at the right time.
I would definitely say it is worth it, especially if you want to try to shoot a doe or two for the freezer.

I had a poor bow season with few daytime sightings in the AM....except at first daylight which i had an older doe...5.5 or more put the lip on me at least 3 times. Darn it , the old heiffer always was in position to best me and it drove me crazy. I plan on getting her next year if she is the only one i kill. Couldnt get her in gun season but during the period i was in her area to take advantage of her possibly coming into heat i could have shot her one evening but passed because of a mature buck lurking nearby that never showed up. I love that kind of challenge!!!
