A couple years ago down in Columbia, a farmer called the TWRA to come in and capture a large group of jakes that would come in every morning and fly up on the fence railing and start flapping their wings to scare off the horses so they could come in and eat up all the sweet feed themselves. TWRA didn't believe them til they came in and saw it themselves. They caught that group and restocked them in other areas away from there.

The deer hunting regulations for years protected does, until the deer populations grew.
I believe the turkey population has grown, so when we have liberal hen limits? The breast meat is delicious, so I think many hunters will be happy for a change in regs.

Moondawg-you better read up on the law. If shoot one of these birds going to or coming from someone feeding them, it considered baiting and that's all these birds do. Half the idiots around here feed them.
Not a problem for me...the turkeys aren't crapping in my yard.
Wasn't sure how the baiting thing worked on turkeys, though.

Just looked out the back door. There must 200 turkeys in my yard.
SCN- We have to do something. Hey, If I'm careful shooting back towards the house can I put my blind over by your boat?
Had to move the boat. It was full turkey crap. Besides, you won't need a blind.

Hey its the same up here in East TN. From my house to Maryville about 14 miles on Hwy 411s its not uncommon to see 40 to 50. Hit the back roads and the count goes into the hundreds. My son and i drve by 4 fields on evening these are the actual numbers the best we could count,183,79,221,27,this is within 10 miles,oh and 162 deer.Had to buy a strike/ball base ball clicker to keep count. And you cannot get anyone to even talk about hunting.

I believe they are getting out of hand. They are doing more damage to my food plots than hogs.
