Like I said, its been about a month, maybe a little longer since I first reported it by phone..Don't you think,if he checked it out, that he would atleast make them take the feeder down? Seems that it would be attempt to bait or something of that nature with it hanging ther empty..Another thing that bothers me,is that he told me straight to my face that he would go checked it out within that week..He took my phone number and said that he may just call me to have me show him.But he then said, that if he didn't call me,that meant that he just went by hisself to check it out..

I would suspect he probably has checked and found the feeder to be empty. It is not a violation to have a feeder hanging if all traces of the grain is gone. It will likely be filed away to be checked in the future when there might be bait on site.

I wouldn't worry about it unless I knew for sure there was feed in it.

lots of ways the guy is legal. No bait in feeder or the guy isn't hunting that land. maybe he fed the deer once a month to keep them checking back. My dad decided we haven't got enough deer to kill more this year. So now I have corn and a camera out. I also have 8 stands out still. I am breaking no laws.

Now if you think the guy has feed in the feeder you can see and your hunting where deer could cross from your land to that feeder the way the law is written you could be considered to be hunting over bait.

What if the feeder is empty...? This means that there is not a crime being committed... Its not against the law to hang an empty feeder... We use PVC pipe feeders and we don't take them down once the season starts and they are empty... Even if they did put corn in it during the season, as long as they are not hunting it 10 days after they stopped putting corn out there is still no law that they broken.. From what I read we don't know and if you didn't check it we will never know...

What does a man have to do to be able to get a baiter busted?? I posted a few weeks ago,or more, about how a guy across the creek has a 2 man ladder stand up in his feild with a 5gal bucket feeder hanging from a limb about 50 yds in front of his stand..Now I don't know if anything is in it,but it seems to me that it would be content to bait even if nothing was in it..I know it wasn't there during bow season, cause i've been through that area during that time, and looked in the field, and neither the feeder or stand was up..I noticed it up a little before gun season..

Now im not one to complain, but how in the heck am I supposed to compete with a baiter or bait for that matter?? It gives the baiter an unfair advantage..If it was leagl,i'd do it,but its not,and therefore I follow the laws set forth by TWRA...But i do expect them to enforce their laws..

I called several times to my local WO,and he tried to get back to me 1 time if I remember correctly,I work 3pm to 11pm,he called while I was at work,he didn't leave a number he could be reached at..So I called him back and left my number and what times Im reachable..He never called back..Then he sets up on me, and tries to bust me hunting illegally with a rifle during bow season..(the bow season between the 2 gun seasons)I posted on that also,he said someone told him i was hunting with a gun during bowseason..He parked down the road and waited for me to come out of the woods that evening, and then surpised me by my truck..Little does he know i obey all game laws put forth by TWRA..

It resulted in a nice long talk and me informing him of the baiter, and I gave directions how to get to it from the proprty I hunt,(pretty straight foward) I even offered to take him anyday of the week before 3pm or anytime on the weekend..He said that if he didn't call me to show him that it meant that he went on his own..I watched the mudd holes and gravel to the place I hunt,I see it everyday, and nobody was in nor out of it for the whole week..So it has come to my conclusion that he never went to check it out..And yesterday I walked back to it and looked across the feild and both stand and feeder is up..

If he did go,you would have thought that he would have atleast made them take the feeder down even if there was no feed in it?? Would you think? Sorry for the long read, but it just burns me up..I know TWRA and WO are busy, but dang its been over a month ago.

First............you may not have seen the feeder and stand up due to the foliage of the early season.

Secondly...........it's not illegal to hang a feeder and a stand close together, unless the feeder is being used. Why would the WO ask him to take it down?

Thirdly.....why do you consider hunting as a competition with your neighbor? Most times, deer care more about the lay of the land and the natural foods and less about a feeder....IMO.

And lastly........what evidence do you have that deer are using the feeder during hunting hours? Have you seen them beneath the feeder or have you heard the guy shooting over there more than usual? Maybe you should set up and try to take video of the feeder in use or deer under it.......(that is if it really bothers you that much).....

This topic brings me to a question I have.
?...Is it illegal to hang a feeder on a private piece of property that you are not hunting over. There is one area or piece of property that we decided not to hunt this year and we have been putting feed in the feeder all year. So am I breaking the law????

I understand that It may not be illegal to have an empty feeder in front of a stand, but I know for a fact this feeder wasn't up before ML season, why would someone hang an empty feeder and put a stnad up in front of it just for looks? I could see if it was there well before archery season, but it was not,and both sides of the creek are clear,so I can see across just fine..I never have trespassed!!

And JEL, if you would read a post all the way through before commenting, you would have noticed that I said I could look across the creek and see it..Even if I wanted to go look,I couldn't the creek is too deep and wide to cross without some sort of boat!
