That it is impossible to keep my feet warm.
If you cut a coke bottle just right you can use it to pee standing up and not have to get half naked in the cold or climb down out of your stand.
Don't give up on a spot if your gut tells you it is where you need to be.

Had shoulder surgery and spent the bulk of the year in a short camp chair with my rifle propped on shooting sticks. It was a real revelation.

Do not overlook cover in areas where you think there probably isn't a mature buck hanging out. The biggest buck taken off our lease this so far (9 years) was taken in an area where I have never hunted because it didn't look that good.

Not Hunted + Didn't Look Good to Me + Good Coverage near thick stuff = Big Buck we didn't know existed.

A prussic knot and a good safety line attached to my harness works great for climbing into lock on stands above 25 ft.

The top portion of a summit can be raised above your head while in the tree and if the seat is positioned correctly can keep you dry in the heaviest of downpours.

Deer would rather bed on the south side.

After waiting on a better shot on 2 gooderns and then them dissappearing I finally figured if I was gonna kill one of em I was gonna have to turn loose of some bullets! The time to kill a big buck is when you see him and don't count on seein him again.
