Bottoms... Look for lonely dense evergreens. Think to yourself where would I bed if it was cold, windy, and maybe wet to boot. Bottoms of narrow steep hollers can be good also.

I am convinced that many areas of Tennessee ( as well as the south) do not have bedding areas. We have enough cover for deer to bed where they take a notion. I go along with that. I always find deer bed depressions right out in the open hardwoods and other random areas that aren't the magazine depicted dark, over-grown 'secret areas' that deer retreat to.
